Lange & Söhne Highlights

Lange & Söhne Highlights

The main interest of this little book lies in the reminder that the Erzgebirge – the Ore Mountains of southern Saxony – are heirs to a long watchmaking tradition. The book notably covers the revival of the A. Lange & Söhne brand after the Nazis, followed by the East German communists, put paid to the firm’s years of glory. The text, more promotional than informative, is short. In fact, it’s mainly a catalogue of the firm’s current production, with a few historical pieces, notably a 1928 model, stamped Genf (Geneva) or the watches made for the SS or for Hermann Goering, head of Hitler’s Luftwaffe. The prices of the new and vintage pieces are given.
